Virtual Advanced App Coding Camp - Mars Explorer
Directors: Thomas Proffen, Alex Shanafield and Amelie Nagle
December 28-30 from 1-4pm EST
Open to girls in grades 5-9
In this camp the girls will learn how to make apps using App Lab. The camp will go a little more in depth and explore the use of data, tables and creating web requests to get external data. As final project during the camp the girls will create an app to explore images from Mars sent by the Curiosity rover using an API to retrieve information.
The camp will run from December 28 to 30 from 1pm to 4pm each day. On the last day will be a showcase for the parents to see what the girls created. The girls will need access to a computer with a web browser and access to the internet. A camera and microphone are recommended for easier interaction.
While girls do not need any specific prior experience, they should have some experience with coding in general.
Participating in the camp is free and girls will be selected based on applications. If you have any questions, please email us at camp@orcsgirls.org. If you are curious about code.org, here is their privacy information.
